Today is my parent's 47th wedding anniversary. They are a true testament to eternal love, and dedication to each other. Their committment to each other, and to the instituion of marriage is rare these days and something to be held in awe.
I wish I had a picture of them as newly weds, but I do not. The picture below is one of those pictures that I really love primarily due to the fact that it was taken right after my brother got married, at their pre-reception outside. To me, this picture symbolizes passing down the family name to the next generation, and their enduring legacy to their children.
Just to put things into perspective, here's a picture of my brother, Om and his bride, Megan on their wedding day. You can see how happy and radiant this young couple looks.
We all remember our wedding day as it should be, as a celebration. However, I propose that we remember marriage instead, and what it means to be with the one you decided to share the rest of your life with.
Here's to you Mom and Dad. Thank you for showing us strength, for teaching us life lessons, for for your enduring faith in each other.
